Sky Gadgets started with the idea that innovative and interesting pilot gear should be presented in such a way that goes beyond images displayed in a catalog-like fashion. Convinced that the internet and a rich media experience could better show-case innovative aviation products, Sky-Gadgets.com was born. Peter Braswell, the company’s founder and chief pilot, wanted to merge his passion of flying with a life long passion for software and web development to bring something new to the market, hence sky-gadgets.com was launched in mid-July.
Many companies are launched with the idea that they need to be “perfect” before they are let out into the wild and are “open for business”. Consistent with the philosophy that getting out there is better and improving along the way is preferable to a long, drawn-out launch, SG launched with minimal investment, a minimal product offering and with minimal infrastructure. We have very much an experimental mindset of rapid development and agile testing. If something seems like it might work, we try it. If it doesn’t we quickly abandon it and move on.
The SG crew feels that testing the actual equipment we sell is mandatory. It’s easy enough to put a bunch of gear into a catalog and sell it but we don’t really believe that best serves our customer. All the products we have are test flown and used in our company aircraft. A “home built” Glastar which is hangered at our home base here at KFCI. This is our “SkyLab” which we affectionately refer to as “Whistler”.
